School Board Redistricting Workshop Oct. 24

VIERA, FLORIDA –The School Board of Brevard County will meet to discuss proposals to change attendance boundaries at over-capacity schools and to close under-capacity schools at a workshop from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 24, in the Board Room at the Educational  Services Facilities, 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, Florida 32940.

The workshop is open to the public, but there will not be an opportunity for input from the public. The purpose of the workshop is to allow the School Board to review and discuss staff recommendations.   The School Board will not make any decisions during the workshop.

Following the workshop, meetings will be held to gather input from the community.  The dates and locations of the meetings are:

1.    Nov. 1, 2011 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Meadowlane Intermediate Elementary School – Potential attendance boundary changes at South Area elementary schools.

2.    Nov. 3, 2011 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Manatee Elementary School – Potential attendance boundary changes at Central Area middle schools and high schools. 

3.    Nov. 8, 2011 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Jackson Middle School – Potential attendance boundary changes at North Area middle schools and high schools;  potential North Area elementary school closing.

4.    Nov. 10, 2011 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School – Potential attendance boundary changes at Beach Area middle schools and high schools; potential Beach Area elementary school closing.

           All information presented at the workshop will be available in the Community Forum section of the School District website on Oct. 25, 2011.
