Foundation Seeks Mentors for Students

Registration Open for Upcoming Training Opportunities

  VIERA, FL - Brevard Schools Foundation’s (BSF’s) Take Stock in Children Program will be hosting training sessions for persons interested in investing one hour a week as a mentor to help send Brevard Public Schools students to college or vocational school.  Individuals who are interested in volunteering as a mentor or learning about Take Stock in Children are invited to attend any one of the following training opportunities:  Wednesday, November 9, Tuesday, December 13, Thursday, January 26 or Wednesday, February 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Educational Services Facility in Viera: 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, 32940.  Reservations are required as seating is limited.  Please call 321-633-1000 ext 415 to reserve your seat. 

Take Stock in Children provides a unique opportunity for low-income and at-risk students to escape the cycle of poverty through education.  Students in the program are offered college scholarships, caring volunteer mentors and hope for a better life.   Volunteer mentors meet with their student each week at school throughout the school year. 

Mentors are needed at middle and high schools throughout the county and specifically at Heritage High (1 female, 1 male mentor) and Merritt Island High (1 female, 1 male mentor).
