BPS Honored for Financial Excellence

Eleventh Consecutive Year

VIERA, FLORIDA–The Office of Accounting Services at Brevard Public Schools has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) for the District’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal year ending 2010. BPS has received these distinctions for 11 years in a row.

The honors represent the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.  In each case the District’s CAFR was reviewed by an impartial panel representing each respective organization and judged to meet the highest standards of the GFOA and ASBO programs, confirming BPS’s continuing commitment to financial accountability and transparency.

The ASBO award is only given to school systems that have met or exceeded the standards of the program, whereas the GFOA award is given to any governmental entity that has met or exceeded the program’s standards.

For information about either of these awards, please contact Jo Ann Clark, Director of Accounting Services, at (321) 633-1000, extension 660, or Judy Preston, Associate Superintendent of Financial Services at extension 600.
