Johnson Middle Received Top Honors from State
and National Press Associations

MELBOURNE — The 2011 Round Up Yearbook of L. B. Johnson Middle School (LBJMS) received top honors from state and national press associations.

The Florida Scholastic Press Association awarded the LBJMS yearbook with 994 points out of 1000 and the award of All-Florida. The state organization is made up of more than 267 student publications and each publication evaluated on the concept, coverage, writing, design and photography.

The National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) awarded the LBJMS yearbook 4,050 points and the award of First Class Honors with a mark of distinction in design. The NSPA evaluates on concept/essentials, coverage, design, writing/editing and photography. NSPA is based out of Minnesota and is a non-profit educational association that provides journalism services to students, teachers, media advisers and others throughout the United States and in other countries.

This was the first time the LBJMS yearbook was awarded First Class. The staff was made up of 17 students and is advised by language arts teacher, Stefanie Pedicini.
