West Shore Going to State Competition for National History Day

MELBOURNE, FL— On Saturday, February 11, West Shore Jr./Sr. High School was the first public school in Brevard County to win a bid to go to the State Competition for National History Day. West Shore’s students won in three categories and will compete in Tallahassee in April.

According to Principal Rick Fleming, “We are happy to be the first school to enter this State and National Contest in History, and we are happy to represent Brevard County Public Schools.”

National History Day is a national competition held each year.  Students from across the United States compete first at the county level, then the state level and hopefully go on to compete nationally.  They compete in five categories: Historical Exhibit, Historical Research, Documentary, Website and Performance.  For additional information, go to this website www.floridahistoryfair.com or www.nhd.org.
