For Immediate Release: January 19, 2012Marshall Finalist for Innovative Principal of the Year
In an e-mailed statement, Marshall stated, “I believe technology is a wonderful tool that educators can use to engage students in relevant learning experiences, increase performance, and more importantly, prepare them with the 21st century skills needed in the workplace they will be entering.” Marshall continues, “Brevard promotes that belief, so I am honored to represent Brevard County as a finalist for this award.” The Florida Innovative Principal of the Year Award program is designed to highlight excellent efforts of school-based principals within Florida school districts that have demonstrated successful program implementations utilizing technology to further student achievement. Student achievement is defined as it relates to any number of measures (FCAT preparation, student/teacher technology literacy, classroom technology integration, bridging the digital divide, etc.).
“Dr. Marshall embraces technology tools that enrich the collective learning experience of her students,” says District Educational Technology Manager Matt Frey. “Student engagement is palpable throughout the West Melbourne campus.” The winner of The Florida Innovative Principal of the Year Award program will be announced on January 24 at an awards luncheon in Orlando during the Florida Educational Technology Conference (FETC).
