VIERA – The Brevard Schools Foundation's Take Stock in Children Program is hosting a free luncheon for people interested in investing one hour a week to help Take Stock in Children send Brevard Public School students to college or vocational school.

The luncheon will be held Tuesday, January 24, 11:00-12:30 at the Broken Barrel, 4700 Babcock St, NE, Palm Bay.

Individuals interested in volunteering as a mentor for a middle or high school student are invited to attend. Reservations are required as seating is limited. Please call 321-633-1000 extension 415 no later than Friday, January 20.

Brevard Schools Foundation’s Take Stock in Children program provides a unique opportunity for local students to escape the cycle of poverty through education.  Volunteer mentors meet with their student each week at school throughout the school year.  Together with the community, Task Stock in Children provides scholarships, mentors and hope; changing futures and making dreams come true.

Individuals who cannot attend the luncheon but are still interested in making a difference in the life of a child can call 321-633-1000 x 415 or go to www.bsf.brevardschoolsfoundation.org for more information.

Male mentors are currently needed at Madison and Jackson Middle Schools in Titusville and Edgewood Jr/Sr High on Merritt Island.

Female mentors are currently needed at Hoover and Stone Middle Schools, Bayside, Heritage,  Melbourne and Palm Bay High Schools and West Shore Jr/Sr High in the south end of the county and  Clearlake Middle and Edgewood Jr/Sr High in the central area.

In addition to the Take Stock in Children program, Brevard Schools Foundation provides scholarships, school supplies, mentoring programs, Space Week, classroom grants and other direct support designed to enhance education. The Foundation welcomes financial contributions or in-kind gifts of goods or services to benefit Brevard Public Schools.
