Miles for Myles 5K Family Fun Run and Walk

Myles FreebergVIERA, FLORIDA— The second annual Miles for Myles 5K Family Fun Run and Walk will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Viera High School.  This is a family-friendly, fitness, and fund raising event.  Proceeds will be used for internships and scholarships through the Brevard Schools Foundation, in memory of Myles Freeberg, a student, scholar athlete, and valedictorian in the Class of 2011 at Viera High School.

On July 7, 2010, Myles was on his way to have his senior picture taken and was hit by a distracted driver and died from those injuries on July 8, 2010 and his organs were donated the following day. The Myles Freeberg Foundation was created to promote and encourage higher education through internships, scholarships, and support for advanced programs in the community.

In 2011, the Myles Freeberg Foundation was able to award eight (8) scholarships through the Brevard Schools Foundation and three (3) internships with the Brevard Zoo through the Viera High School Academy of Business and Finance to Brevard County high school students. This year, the Myles Freeberg Foundation will offer nine (9) scholarships. Scholarship info may be found at:  http://bsf2.brevardschools.org/pages/Scholarships.aspx.
